“Mabuhay!” That’s a common greeting in the Philippines, and can be translated as “Welcome!”

In that spirit, Nezasa is excited to welcome the Philippines to its ever-growing list of destination countries. A vast archipelago of some 7,000 islands, the Philippines is rapidly growing as a popular travel spot for visitors from Europe and North America. The broad range of experiences available here can satiate even the most weary of traveler tastes.

For the nature aficionado, the Philippines has a dazzling kaleidoscope of unspoilt coral gardens teeming with dazzling colorful sea life for those who like scuba diving and snorkeling. While many islands in the network offer stunning underwater landscapes, those off the coast of Boracay are considered some of the world’s best. The world-famous UNESCO-recognized Chocolate Hills are also present in Bohol – a series of some 1,776 hills spread out over an area of about 20 square miles. It must be seen to be believed, as is the little bug-eyed Philippine Tarsier – the second-smallest primate in the world.

For the avid beachgoer and sun worshipper, the quality of pristine white sandy beaches throughout the Philippines is enough to rival some of the best in Asia. While its top-ranked White Beach is a popular hotspot nowadays, the island of Boracay offers a stunning range of beaches all the way from all-night party havens to isolated, peaceful paradises – perfect for those wary of overpopulated beach destinations in other parts of Asia.

For history buffs: the great Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan – working for Spanish interests – set foot on ground near Cebu City in the first meeting between Europeans and native Filipino peoples, and subsequently met his end in 1521 on the island of Mactan in a battle with the locals led by Lapu-Lapu, now regarded as the first national hero of the country. In fact, the country’s incredible colonial legacy is visible with numerous churches, castles and fortifications from times of Dutch, Spanish, British and American presence.
